Susan was recommended to me with glowing comments from friends of friends. Our first meeting was long distance by telephone but we talked for a long time. I knew straight away that we would work well together. Buying a home - especially from a distance - can be a long and difficult process. I felt that the relationship between my realtor and me would would be very important to a successful purchase. Susan takes the time to get to know and understand her client. I have realized that no chance remark is forgotten; it all becomes part of her defining what will make you happy. She knew my favourite flowers, my favourite colour, what decor style I would like. She's very easy to talk to and has a great sense of humour. Nothing seems to faze her: any problem that comes along is processed and solved.
I visited Sidney for a week and Susan spent the time to show me around the town to let me get a sense of whether it was the right move for me. She never pushed me on anything: she would absorb what I was telling her and that became part of what we did next. We saw ten properties in one day; it was easy to eliminate most of them until there was an obvious front runner. I was clear that I wanted to sell my home first and then buy - Susan never challenged me on that. I left Sidney knowing what I had to do next was to sell my house. To my surprise it sold in a week, and then the pressure was on.
Susan worked incredibly hard to achieve the successful purchase of my dream home. There were a number of challenges before closing but Susan always seemed to know how to ground me and calm my worries. I have bought homes before, but I have never seen the level of detail and effort that Susan brought to the offer process. She worked with the vendor's realtor to ensure that I had a complete understanding of the property and the strata. I was impressed by how respectful she was of the other realtor and his client.
Susan really cares about her clients. She tells you that it's your money not hers, and she means it. She will lay out options but lets you decide what route to go - somehow in her gentle way you always know which route she would recommend. I frequently told Susan she was a psychologist as well as a realtor. I always felt that Susan derived great personal pleasure from seeing her client satisfied: I won't forget the day I got a call from her and the joy and excitement in her voice as she told that me my offer had been accepted. Selling a beloved home and moving across the country to a new life and a new home is a long and daunting journey; but I always felt that Susan was on the journey with me. Even after closing Susan has continued to support me in all kinds of ways. I am truly grateful to her for her consummate professionalism but also her humanity and kindness. I have already recommended her to friends who are considering a move to the Island."
